New EditShare Customer Profile: Merit/Andrew

Business was growing for Merit Andrew, a boutique film production company based in Orange County, California. The company's four edit bays were humming with work ranging from national spots and music videos to high-end industrial films. The firm has seven full time employees, but multiple crews of up to a hundred professionals are often in the field.

Executive Producer Curt Fleming says the company was feeling some real pain moving around media, wasting more than two hours each day just to get media from room to room. An entire production day per week was spent managing media manually. To get back this wasted time, Merit Andrew needed to automate and streamline their workflow with a shared storage solution.

Fleming followed strict criteria as he considered every available system. "We're not willy-nilly with our funds and we do our homework before we invest in anything. It has to pan out financially," he explained. The solution had to support Avid as well as other editing and compositing systems. He wanted an open, heterogeneous environment with protected storage at an affordable price point.
