EditShare Rolls Out XStream Series
Sunday, September 14, 2008
EditShare announced at IBC 2008 the release of EditShare XStream. Part of the new Complete Collaboration product line, XStream is EditShare's 5th-generation, high-performance shared storage solution for DI and Broadcast workflows. Leveraging the fastest storage technology on the market, each EditShare XStream 16-drive chassis processes over 1GB per second. Users can combine multiple XStream chassis for performance to match the needs of any large-scale production workgroup or high-bandwidth content creation facility.
"Not only can EditShare XStream support a wide range of mission critical and high-bandwidth environments, it does so with immense flexibility," said Andy Liebman, founder and president, EditShare. "You can put multiple EditShare XStream systems on the same network along with your EditShare Storage Series systems. This allows administrators to manage all their storage requirements from a single unified EditShare interface and precisely match the performance needs of each job. Our customers can also integrate acquisition and browse tools from the new EditShare Flow product line, enabling realtime collaboration from ingest to editing on to archiving and back. The possibilities are limitless and the performance is outstanding."
Combined with EditShare's 5th-generation administration, monitoring, and workflow tools, XStream enables industry-leading performance and an open environment for creative teams to share media regardless of application or platform. Users of Apple, Adobe, Assimilate, Autodesk, Avid, Digidesign, Sony, Thomson, and other applications can connect via Gigabit or 10-Gigabit Ethernet and freely share media regardless of size or format. As with EditShare Storage Series systems, XStream offers tremendous workflow advantages within the XStream Workflow Director: true project and media sharing for Apple and Avid users, user management tools that are designed specifically for post and broadcast, and integration with post and broadcast equipment for realtime and complete collaboration across the entire workflow.
EditShare XStream supports huge numbers of SD and compressed HD streams or multiple streams of uncompressed HD or 2K. With its unique PCI Express expansion architecture and a dedicated RAID card for every 8 or 16 drives, XStream provides unparalleled reliability, performance, and scalability.
EditShare will begin shipping the first XStream units at the end of September.
