Boris Job Slate is an Apple Final Cut Pro plug-in that automatically creates commercial slates based on XML files received from the Ad-ID advertising identification and management system. Boris Job Slate imports Ad-ID XML files, automatically parses the data, and creates a commercial slate, eliminating the need for manual data entry. The text style, text layout, font type, and font size can be fully customized in the Boris Job Slate text window. Changes to the actual text are never saved, preserving data integrity and avoiding inadvertent changes to the imported Ad-ID information. Use pre-installed backdrops or create custom image plates. Move entire text objects relative to the background and change their scale using Final Cut Pro controls.

Boris Continuum Complete 6 AVX for Avid DS (BCC 6 AVX for DS) is now available for Avid's AVX 2.0 plug-in architecture. BCC 6 AVX for DS brings nearly 200 filters to Avid DS Version 10.2.1 and higher. BCC AVX is bundled with all Avid Media Composer and Symphony systems. With a BCC AVX for DS license, Avid facilities are now able to conform sequences with AVX 2.0-based BCC effects for finishing in Avid DS.
In addition to AVX 2.0 support, BCC 6 AVX for DS introduces all-new Lens Blur, Lens Transition, and Lens Shape filters that emulate lens blur or rack defocus effects as well as a suite of time-based effects such as Optical Flow, Optical Stabilizer, and Motion Key.
New Feature Highlights
• Conform Offline and Online BCC Effects. BCC AVX is bundled with all Avid Media Composer and Symphony systems. With a BCC 6 AVX for DS license, Avid facilities are now able to conform sequences with AVX 2.0-based BCC effects for finishing in Avid DS.
• Lens Blur Filter. BCC Lens Blur emulates a lens blur or rack defocus effect where out-of-focus highlights of an image clip take on the shape of the lens.
• Lens Shape Filter. Like BCC Lens Blur, BCC Lens Shape emulates a lens blur or rack defocus effect where out of focus highlights of an image clip take on the shape of the lens. However, the Lens Shape filter uses an image input for the highlight shape.
• Lens Transition Filter. The BCC Lens Transition wipe filter applies a lens blur or rack defocus effect to the specular highlights of outgoing and incoming image clips.
• Motion Key Filter. BCC Motion Key is a "magical" effect that removes moving cars or other objects from a scene by automatically painting them out with Optical Flow technology.
• Optical Stabilizer Filter. Remove camera shake from a hand-held shot, lock a shot as if it was taken from a tripod, or smooth the motion of a panning or rolling shot. Image resizing and cropping is automatically calculated and rendered with high-quality up-scale methods.
• Optical Flow Filter. BCC Optical Flow facilitates high-quality speed-up or slow-down of footage in forward or reverse direction, accurately constructing synthetic frames of video that would correspond to an over-cranked film camera shot. Missing frames of video are reconstructed based on "motion vector" fields.
• DeInterlace Filter. BCC DeInterlace is a high-quality de-interlacing filter that blends high-motion parts of an image while keeping low-motion areas sharp.
• Motion Blur Filter. Based on Optical Flow motion vectors, BCC Motion Blur creates an in-camera motion blur effect from video shot with normal shutter speed.
• Other New Time-based Effects include Jitter, Jitter Basic, Looper, Posterize Time, Sequencer, Temporal Blur, Time Displacement, Trails, Trails Basic, and Velocity Remap.
• 32-bit Float Image Format. BCC 6 AVX's OpenGL filters now render images in 32-bit float.

Boris FX announced that Boris Continuum Complete 6 AVX (BCC 6 AVX) for Avid editing and finishing systems is now available. BCC 6 AVX is based on Avid's AVX 2 plug-in architecture with support for Avid Media Composer, Avid NewsCutter and Avid Symphony. A special AVX 1 version of BCC 6 AVX for Avid DS will be released in the near future.
BCC 6 AVX adds nearly 200 plug-in filters to Avid editing and finishing systems. The new release features 15 new effects including Extruded Text, Extruded EPS, Layer Deformer, Cartoon Look, Lightning, and Swish Pan. Film Process, Film Damage, Match Grain, Film Grain, Deinterlace, and Prism
The new Boris Continuum Film Look Unit includes the following plug-ins:
* Film Process: The Film Process plug-in can help "filmize" digital video by deepening the color response range of the digital image to emulate film's dynamic color range. It can also be used to color grade and mimic an infinite variety of analog lens filters, optical processes, and special effects. This capability allows for a broader aesthetic and creative palette that filmed imagery offers - but without the higher cost of 35mm film production.
* Film Damage: Film Damage simulates the appearance of old film stock. You can add scratches, grain particles, hair or fibers, and dirt, dust, or water spots. You can also simulate camera shake or a flickering image.
* Match Grain: Match Grain takes a snapshot of telecined media and generates a grain signature which can be used as a matching grain sample for a destination clip containing little or no grain. A common application of this filter is adding grain to computer-generated imagery to lend to a more realistic composite. Match Grain can also be used to grain footage shot on video so it edits more seamlessly into a sequence with telecined media.
* Film Grain: The Film Grain plug-in creates an auto-animated noise effect designed to simulate the appearance of grain particles in the emulsion of movie or photo film.
* Deinterlance: The Deinterlace plug-in converts interlaced video clips into progressive-scan frames, such as footage shot on film. Deinterlace can render "simulated telecine" style by adding pulldown. This filter can also convert 29.97fps NTSC video into 24fps film-style frames.
* Prism: Prism is typically used to simulate the photographic effect of chromatic aberration in which a bad lens can generate prismatic color fringing along edges of high contrast within the image.

The new OpenGL-accelerated Boris Continuum Lens Flare Unit simulates a lens flare - streaks and spots of light on film caused by light bouncing inside a camera lens. Composite the lens flare over a source image or generate a completely synthetic image. A wide range of preset lens flares is included for quick application or as a starting point for a custom effect. With the release of Version 2.5, Boris Blue is now available as an effect that can be applied directly within Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects timelines. This new integration lets Adobe CS3 users take advantage of Blue's great-looking 3D effects in their projects. Blue's 3D effects include high quality, fast-rendered 3D titles, 3D model import, particle effects, transitions, and more. In Premiere Pro, Boris Blue is available as a filter and as a single track transition effect; Blue can also be used to generate a composition clip. Vivek "Vik" Narayan, Investigative and Special Projects Editor for KNXV/ABC 15, was asked to create a 15-to-20 second open for the live broadcast of The City of Phoenix's annual July 4th celebration, dubbed "Fabulous Phoenix 4th". The festivities included a rock concert and culminated in a fireworks spectacular. Vik had to figure out a way to feature all the sponsor logos in the open. His plan was to combine regal patriotism and explosive fun in a 3D arena.

Boris Continuum Complete 5 for Avid AVX is a high-performance desktop compositing plug-in package offering over 180 filters for professional visual effects creation. Leveraging the new Avid AVX 2.0 API, BCC 5 AVX delivers a number of user workspace enhancements including on-screen and contextual controls for faster and better effects design.
